PSN gift card in India: where to buy, which amounts exist and how to pay with UPI

The PlayStation Store in India doesn't take UPI, so most people top up with gift cards. Here is where to buy them safely, the amounts you'll find and how to redeem one.

Short answer: the PlayStation Store in India accepts cards but not UPI. The easy workaround is a PlayStation Store gift card from Amazon.in, Flipkart or Games The Shop, paid for with UPI. It arrives as a 12-digit code that you add to your PlayStation wallet in rupees.

Sony doesn’t sell gift cards directly in India. Buy from a big retailer, and always check that the listing says India or INR. A US or UAE card won’t work on an Indian account.

Which amounts can you buy?

There’s no single official list, and each seller stocks different amounts. The ones you’ll usually see run from ₹500 to ₹5,000, with ₹1,000, ₹2,000, ₹3,000 and ₹5,000 the most common. Some sellers add a small markup, so compare the price you pay with the card’s value before you buy.

If you need an odd total, like ₹5,999 for a new game, combine cards. Your wallet adds them together.

How to redeem a PSN gift card

  1. On PS5: go to PlayStation Store, press the menu (three dots) and choose Redeem code.
  2. On a phone or computer: sign in at the PlayStation Store website, click your avatar and choose Redeem code.
  3. Type the 12-digit code. The money appears in your wallet straight away.

Codes can’t be refunded once they’re delivered, so double-check the region before you pay.

Things to watch out for

  • Cheap codes on social media are almost always scams or stolen. Buy from a known retailer.
  • Codes can sell out during big sales and launches like GTA 6. Top up a day or two early.
  • Don’t keep a huge balance. Add what you need for the next purchase or two.
  • Subscriptions: you can pay for PS Plus from your wallet too. It’s a good way around failed auto-renewals.

Is there a better way to pay?

If your debit or credit card works on the PlayStation Store, you can use it directly, and you’ll avoid any seller markup. If your card is declined, check that online and international transactions are switched on in your bank app, because some store payments are processed outside India. Or skip the problem with a gift card.
