Is it worth it?
The most approachable FromSoftware game, because the open world lets you leave a tough boss and come back stronger. It is huge, demanding and endlessly rewarding. Look out for bundles that include the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, which is one of the best expansions ever made.

About Elden Ring
Elden Ring is FromSoftware’s biggest game, made with world-building from Game of Thrones author George R. R. Martin. You play as one of the Tarnished, called back to the Lands Between to restore the shattered Elden Ring and become its lord.
The difference from Dark Souls is scale. The Lands Between is a huge open world you can ride across on your spectral steed, Torrent, full of ruined castles, hidden caves and bosses that appear without warning. When a fight is too hard, you can simply go elsewhere, get stronger and come back. That freedom makes it the most welcoming game the studio has made.
It’s still demanding. Enemies hit hard and you’ll die a lot, but the game rewards learning, and summoning spirit ashes or other players can turn a wall into a challenge you can climb.
The Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, released in 2024, adds a large new region with some of the game’s toughest fights.
A main path through the game takes around 55 to 60 hours, and many players spend more than 100.
