New games in India often launch at ₹3,999 or more on console, and a deluxe edition can cost far more. The good news is that very few people need to pay full price. A few habits make a big difference.
Wait for the big sales
Most games get their first real discount within a few months of launch. The sales worth planning around are Steam’s summer and winter sales, the PlayStation Store’s Days of Play and holiday sales, and the festive season sales on Amazon and Flipkart around Diwali. If a game isn’t urgent, save it on GameJila and check back when one of these starts. Our deals page lists every real price drop we’ve found, with the date we checked it.
Compare digital and disc prices
Discs and digital copies follow different rules. A disc from Amazon.in or Flipkart is often cheaper than the PlayStation Store price a few months after launch, and you can sell it or lend it when you’re done. Digital wins during big store sales and never needs a disc swap. Our price tables show both side by side, so you can see which is cheaper today.
Pick the right edition
Deluxe and Ultimate editions usually add cosmetics, a season pass or early access. That’s worth it only if you know you’ll play the extra content. Many big games get a complete or Game of the Year edition a year or so later that includes everything for less than the original deluxe price. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is a good example: its Complete Edition bundles both expansions and is regularly one of the cheapest big RPGs during Steam sales.
Check India pricing on PC
Many publishers set a separate, lower price for India on Steam and other PC stores. That’s why a PC copy can cost noticeably less than the console version of the same game. Always compare the rupee price, not a converted dollar price you saw somewhere else. Our PC games list shows the India price on every store we track.
Avoid grey-market keys
Some sites sell keys far below the official price. Those keys can be bought in other regions with stolen cards, and they can be revoked, leaving you with nothing. Stick to official stores and authorised retailers. It’s not worth the risk to save a few hundred rupees. Every store in our price tables is an official one, as explained in our editorial policy.
Check before you buy on PC
Before buying a PC game, check its minimum and recommended specs against your machine. A game that runs badly is not a bargain at any price. Refund rules vary by store, so read them before you buy.
Consider a subscription
If you play a lot of different games, a subscription can cost less than buying them one by one. PlayStation Plus and PC Game Pass both rotate their catalogues, so check that the games you want are actually included before you sign up.
Use price history, not hype
A “70% off” label means little if the regular price was inflated. On GameJila every deal shows the current price, the regular price and when we checked. If you see a price drop on a game you’ve been waiting for, that’s your moment. Not sure what to buy next?
