Is it worth it?
Ideal if you want a tight, story-first crime drama you can finish in a couple of weekends. On PlayStation, the main listing includes both the PS4 and the native PS5 version with 60 FPS. If you already own it on PS4, you can claim the PS5 version for free.

About Mafia: Definitive Edition
Mafia: Definitive Edition is Hangar 13’s full remake of the 2002 original Mafia, published by 2K. It came out in September 2020 on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. On 14 August 2026 a native PS5 and Xbox Series X|S version followed, the same game with 60 FPS gameplay and technical improvements. PS4 owners can claim the PS5 version for free, though saves don’t transfer.
The story is told in flashback. In 1938, mobster Tommy Angelo meets a detective and recounts how he went from cab driver to made man in the Salieri crime family, and why he now wants out. It’s set in Lost Heaven, a fictional city modelled on Prohibition-era America.
Most of the game is linear story missions that mix third-person shooting, period car driving and chases. Motorcycles appear in the series for the first time. A Classic difficulty makes ammo and police more punishing, and a separate Free Ride mode lets you explore the city with hidden side missions and collectibles.
Critics praised the story, acting and visuals. The main story takes roughly 11 hours, which makes it one of the shorter games in the series and an easy one to fit in between bigger releases.
