About Ghost of Tsushima
Ghost of Tsushima is set in 1274, during the first Mongol invasion of Japan. You play as Jin Sakai, one of the few samurai to survive the opening battle on the island of Tsushima. To drive the invaders out, Jin has to break the code he was raised on and fight from the shadows, becoming the Ghost.
The game’s world is its calling card. Fields of pampas grass, red forests and misty coastlines make Tsushima one of the most beautiful open worlds ever made. Instead of a busy map, a gust of wind points you toward your goal, and birds and foxes lead you to secrets.
Combat switches between open sword fights, where you change stances to break different enemy types, and stealth tools like smoke bombs and kunai. The one-on-one standoffs and duels are the highlight.
The Director’s Cut adds Iki Island, a separate expansion with its own story about Jin’s past. It’s the version available on PS5 and PC.
Expect around 25 hours for the main story and more than twice that to see most of the island.
