Is it worth it?
Pick this up if you enjoy parry-focused combat and want something different from Game Freak. Reviews were mixed, mostly about the story and level design, so it may be worth waiting for a sale if you're unsure. The Standard Edition is enough; the Digital Deluxe only adds cosmetics and in-game currency.

About Beast of Reincarnation
Beast of Reincarnation is a single-player action RPG from Game Freak, the studio best known for Pokémon, published by Fictions. It launched on 4 August 2026 on PS5, PC and Xbox Series X|S.
The game is set in Japan in the year 4026, after a collapse that has left the land overrun by blight. You play Emma, an outcast who can control plants with her blight powers, travelling with Koo, a blighted stray dog. Koo is central to how you play rather than just a companion who follows you around.
Combat is the main focus. You face everything from huge mutated beasts to robots, and the system mixes real-time action with turn-based elements. Parrying is especially important, which is why reviewers compared it to Sekiro and Black Myth: Wukong. Defeating bosses across the world lets you absorb their powers.
The journey runs across 13 chapters plus an epilogue, each tied to a region. Reception was mixed: most critics enjoyed the combat and characters but found the story and level design flat and some bosses repetitive.
The main story takes about 23 hours, and completionists can expect 30 or more.
